5. Discussion and Action Items
Request to change ordinance 10.390 regulating parking on South 8th
Street near Lincoln High School.
School Resource Officer Miranda Check shared that with the freshman
class's transition to Lincoln High School, the bus drop-off and pickup
location was relocated from South 8th Street to Green Street to better
accommodate the increased number of buses. This adjustment has proven
beneficial and will remain in place. Consequently, the previous ordinance
concerning parking regulations on South 8th Street for buses is now
outdated.
The proposed amendment suggests eliminating parking on the east side of
South 8th Street, between Columbus Street and Madison Street, from 7:30
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while Lincoln High School is in session. Normal parking
will continue on the west side of the street. Refer to the attachments for the
proposed changes. A motion was made to amend the ordinance.
Moved by Reckelberg, seconded by DeBaets, that this Request be approved and
referred to Council. The motion carried by the following vote:
5 - Beeman, Reckelberg, Cummings, DeBaets and Anderson
Aye:

need for immediate changes, so this matter will be placed on file and
included in the comprehensive review of the entire City.
