Abstain:
Request to install stop signs at the intersection of South 22nd Street and
Summit Street for northbound and southbound traffic on South 22nd Street.
This request was submitted through the Road Sign/Pedestrian Crossing
Request Form. After reviewing the area, Engineering Division Manager
Greg Minikel recommended installing stop signs at the intersection of
South 22nd Street and Summit Street for northbound and southbound
traffic on South 22nd Street due to a site obstruction.
Moved by Cummings, seconded by Beeman, that this Action Item be approved
and referred to Council. The motion carried by the following vote:
5 - Reckelberg, Beeman, Cummings, Anderson and Benzinger
Aye:
Request to prohibit parking on the east side of the roadway at the
intersection of S. 35th Street and Lindbergh Drive.
Alderperson Benzinger explained that this item was brought forward on
behalf of a constituent. The area of concern is the 45-degree curve in the
roadway at 35th Street and Lindbergh Drive.
Neighboring residents were invited to attend the meeting, and those
present expressed that they did not support the request.
Engineering Division Manager Greg Minikel explained that the street is 36
feet wide, which is common for residential areas in the City and allows for
typical parking on both sides of the roadway. Greg also expressed concern
that removing parking on both sides of the street could result in increased
speeding in the area. Greg further added that painting double yellow lines
in the roadway may be beneficial and could help address the concern.
A motion was made by Alderperson Cummings to deny the request for No
Parking restrictions and instead paint double yellow lines in the roadway.
Moved by Anderson, seconded by Beeman, that this Action Item be denied and
referred to Council. The motion carried by the following vote:
