5. Discussion and Action Items
22-0663 Discussion regarding parking recreational vehicles on City streets.
Alder Sitkiewitz brought this concern forward due to the increased number
of recreational vehicles being parked on City streets. Currently, the City
doesn't have an ordinance to address these concerns other than 24-hour
parking. Alder Sitkiewitz recommends keeping this file open and once the
City staffs an attorney they be directed to review other related codes and
draft an ordinance.
Discussion regarding yield/stop signs in the area of South 12th Street and
Flambeau Street.
Director of Public Infrastructure, Dan Koski was present and explained the
Stop Sign Policy & Guidelines the City of Manitowoc adheres to. Upon
reviewing accident data there hasn’t been a reported accident in this area
since 2009 and the City doesn’t have any traffic counts for the area. The
Public Safety committee requested DPI staff conduct a traffic count and
bring back a recommendation.
An Ordinance to amend Chapter 31 of the MMC regulating Signs.
Inspection Supervisor, Bill Nichols explained since working with the
updated sign ordinance over the last year there are areas in the code staff
would recommend cleaning up and updating to further enhance the usability
and intent of the code.
Moved by Reckelberg, seconded by Boldt, that this Ordinance be approved and
referred to Council. The motion carried by the following vote:
5 - Schlei, Reckelberg, Vanderkin, Kaderabek and Boldt
